It’s official—construction has begun on our major expansion project! This exciting venture will allow us to preserve and showcase our region's rich heritage for generations to come.

Here is what has been happening on site and what you need to know for your next visit.

What’s Happening on Site?

  • Initial Preparation (Since September 8): Excavation began alongside tree removal, generator relocation, asphalt removal in the Lakeside Road parking lot, and the setup of temporary electrical services and safety fencing.

  • Current Work (Week of September 21 & Ongoing):

    • Active excavation, backfilling, and soil compaction for the parking area between Town Hall and the Museum.

    • Installation of new underground conduits and relocation of existing on-site utility lines.

    • Expansion of the fenced construction perimeter for site safety.

What to Expect When You Visit

The best news? The Museum remains OPEN! All of our exhibition buildings and pavilions remain accessible to visitors unless announced otherwise.

Here are a few quick practical details:

  • Site Hours: Construction runs Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Noise: Some work may occasionally generate noise during active construction hours.

  • Parking: The parking lot located between the Museum and Town Hall is now closed to the public and reserved exclusively for construction.

  • Roads: No street closures or traffic disruptions are anticipated around the site.

We deeply appreciate your patience, understanding, and ongoing support as we build a bigger, better future for the Lac-Brome Museum. Stay tuned for more progress updates and behind-the-scenes photos!
