Nicholas Austin, who was a Quaker and the Leader of the Associates who settled Bolton Township, acquired this coffee grinder as a substitute for a grist mill. Powered by a small water wheel, it ground 8 bushels of grain in 24 hours, providing much needed flour to the pioneers.
