Col. Hendrick Ruiter, a Loyalist, made this cupboard in 1806 as a wedding present for his daughter Katherine. Legend has it that on the night of her wedding to David Heath, Katie hid in the cupboard to avoid being subjected to the custom of being escorted to the bedroom by rowdy guests.
