This 77mm German Feldkanone was built by Krupp in 1915. Although it was not the largest calibre of gun used by the Germans during the First World War, their artillery strategy nevertheless relied on this model. The 77mm Feldkanone was used on all fronts and in all battles. Nearly 300 of this type of field gun were still in service at the start of the Second World War. 
 
This particular field gun was captured at Cambrai, France, in October of 1918 by the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles under the command of Brigadier General Dennis Draper of Sutton.
