This collection of religious books and reports was used in the East Farnham “Society of Friends” meeting house. The Quakers who settled in this region had fled to Canada after facing religious persecution in the United States for their pacifism during the American Revolution. East Farnham had the first Quaker meeting house in Quebec. The community lasted for over a century, although it faced a gradual decline as its founders passed away and their descendants relocated.
