This uncapping knife is made of a copper boiler that produces steam and a blunt tool that the steam heats. The beekeeper could use the hot knife to slice through the top layer of wax, allowing the honey to be harvested. This particular tool was made by F. W. Jones & Son LTD., a company founded in Bedford, Quebec, by Frank W. Jones in 1878. The business soon became well known across Canada. Frank also improved beekeeping techniques, including inventing a new kind of honeycomb foundation.
